Hello everyone!
Hope you all set the right foot onto 2015, and let’s get this 365 days party started! 😉

One of the things I promised myself for 2015 is to make more of what makes me better and happier. One of those things is reading. I usually say I used to be a Library rat when I was a kid and it’s true. My mom actually got mad at me a few times for always having my nose stuck into a book. Over the years, though, things changed. Life changed, got more packed, priorities got mixed up and my reading habits became shameful. I read everyday plenty of blogs, but it isn’t the same thing as reading and feeling and diving into a book.

So, after a year I’ve only read an handful of books (shaaaame!!!), inspired by this 9GAG post, I decided to man up and challenge myself. Ladies and gentleman, my Reading List for 2015:

50 new books (most of them already in my shelf, on queue, but I still had to make a proper list to get things in order). Funny enough, this is also one of my resolutions for my 30 by 30 Challenge (only that was set for 3 years)! To be honest I am more thrilled to start a few more than others, but still, this is serious and I’m going to behave!

However, union is key in these things. So, why won’t you take the Challenge with me? I dare you… 😉 (You can make your own list, of course…) I’m sure neither of us will regret it. 🙂

Day 1 is on: #1 – “Eat, Pray, Love”, Elizabeth Gilbert
(I already read the first chapter a few days ago… Shhhh! 😛 )

I have deeply mixed feelings about 2014… I’m not sure if it was the best or worst year of my life. Probably both, but I am glad it’s coming to an end. 2014 gave me the strength to turn 2015 into ‘that one’ year so far, and I’m not planning on letting it down. (Yes, I am that confident!)

2014 taught me I am deeply deeply flawed but also an extraordinary human being.
2014 taught me it pays off to do your best and the right thing in spite of whatever.
2014 taught me I don’t need that much to live and be happy.
(And life is much easier than we make it)
2014 taught me seeking for help is not a sign of weakness, quite the contrary.
2014 taught me I don’t have to understand everyone and everything, and acceptance is key.
2014 taught me life is full of surprises and the best thing to do is to enjoy the ride.
(Eventually it’ll make sense)
2014 taught me adventure really is the best way to learn. And grow.
2014 taught me life doesn’t bring you anything you can’t endure. And overcome.
2014 taught me people are better and worse than you think, and that’s just how it is.
2014 taught me being scared and vulnerable when you push your limits is normal.
(So you can learn to breathe and put things in perspective)
2014 taught me things tend to get worse before they get much much better. You’ll see.
2014 taught me believing in something really is halfway there.

2014 made me stronger, smarter, wiser, more tolerant, more sensitive, more proactive, more ambitious, more of the woman I want to be. Am I perfect? Not even close. I still make mistakes every single day and feel quite clueless about a few topics of my life half of the time; but I do learn from my mistakes and I do have (kind-of) a plan and a vision. I don’t have a map but I always liked trips with a margin for improvisation, anyway… 😉

A thank you note to every person part of my life this past year – the ones who made it better and the ones who made it worse. I needed everyone of them to be where I am now. For the good ones, I send you all my love and a kiss with the certainty I save you all in my heart. 🙂

As for you, my dear readers, I hope your 2014 was a great year too, and this upcoming one turns out be even better! Thank you so much for your support, even though I am not the best blogger ever.

Wish you ALL a New Year packed with success, love, health and the prospect of very good memories for the years to come! 😀 See you in 2015!

Ph. Nuno Calisto // ZARA sweater and boyfriend jeans, PARFOIS chain necklace, CK watch, CHIADO FACTORY rings, ANARTXY bracelet and small medal bracelet from MERCI in Paris.

It’s not very often that I find clothing with messages (read t-shirts and sweaters ’cause that’s as far as it goes for me) that appeal to me. I love typography, yet, most things I come across are just so dull, uninteresting, either too girly or just plain stupid and I have to shop in the man’s department in order to get something nicer. And then there are these, just plain pretentious but too cool to pass! 🙂

Plus, now that I have to pay a bit more attention to what I wear to work, a cool oversized and cozy sweatshirt is all I want to live in on a saturday afternoon. Call me lazy, who cares? I just love it – and my Saturdays are supposed to be lazy: it’s my favorite day of the week! And no, I’m neither a princess or a rock star. I am comfortably somewhere in between… And I love it that way.

Thanks again, Nuno, my dear, for the pictures. You rock! 😉

If there’s a make-up brand I’d say I’m really fond of, it would have to be BENEFIT. Let’s see: First, there’s the packaging – colorful, fun, with an amazing retro vibe; secondly, there’s the whole bubbly/sassy vibe and overall positive feeling the brand inspires; and finally, there’s the simple fact that the products are really good. I’ve tried most of them, probably – I don’t wear that much make-up but I’ve been a fan for years and I also took a free workshop they were having at SEPHORA last month, which gave me the chance to give some things a go.

I can easily count a few BENEFIT favorites on my make-up bag, especially concealers (a perpetually tired looking girl’s best friend – Boi-ing and Erase Paste are among my favorites, along with Double Wear (from Estée Lauder) and All About Eyes (Clinique), since Confessions of a Concealaholic was my first ever decent make-up buy and I still have it. That’s one thing about them, too: they always have these little kits available, with miniatures of their products bound together for specific results. Quite lovely. 🙂

Anyway, I’ll do a ‘Make-Up Favorites’ post for you later, if you like. Yet, today, I want to talk to you about two particular new favorites – the They’re Real! power duo (it’s actually a trio, as you can see in the picture above, if we count in the remover). If you’ve been reading me for at least a year (thank you!), you know I wish I had longer lashes. Remember my extensions? Yeah, turns out that doesn’t work so well for me. I’m not an high maintenance kind of girl and though I tried, I am way too lazy to commit to any kind of torture that comes in form of a routine. Ok, no pain no gain, but in this case, balancing the plates, my full, wide and long lashes didn’t get me much worth of note, so I pass. Plus, who am I kidding?! It doesn’t look exactly natural…

Which means I am always on the hunt for best-mascara-ever! I’ve tried plenty, yet most don’t do exactly what they say (what a surprise…). I’ve realized over time that rubber brushes work best for me – they give away a more natural, fluid look (I like them long and voluminous but I want to be able to open my eyes!…). I found my needs answered in the They’re Real! mascara at last. I’ve heard about it for long but haven’t yet tried. And because a picture is worth a thousand words, they say (and I write too much already) check the results bellow.

It’s not over the top neither insignificant – it’s just enough to widen the eye open and give it more expression. Plus, it lasts all day and works perfectly (for me at least) with just one swipe. So, yes, it became an instant favorite, worthy of my love and loyalty until death tears us apart (or something better). Also pretty damn great is their new eyeliner, from the same line – pitch black, gel texture, with an easy applicator and extra-long lasting (Really! I bought the remover because it doesn’t stray away easily with anything). I’ve been using it regularly and am in love with it. Highly recommended! 🙂

Enjoy your weekend! xx

First off, I’m sorry for my sudden disappearance. I’m still alive and in good health and mood, thank you. 🙂 Actually I’d have to blame WordPress for making this absence longer, because prior to my departure to Paris (you might have noticed I was there through my Instagram), I had 3 posts ready to publish – THREE!! – and Worpress just ‘puff!’ made them disappear, when I was so proud of my blogger manners…

Anyway, we’ll get back on track soon. The last weeks have been a bit hectic with a sudden new job, classes, friends and a general effort to get my life back on track – you can’t imagine how much I love to curse days for being only 24h long! – so I haven’t been able to prepare anything to update the blog. I have plenty of stuff in line, though. Stay tunned! 😉

Last Friday night, me and my friend F. were talking about boys (like all girls do), and I was telling her how handsome french men are, till we reach the conclusion that Christmas is the most lovely time of the year for many reasons but also to watch TV (odd course of thoughts, I know). Why? Because the loooong breaks between any show are filled with fragrance commercials, with gorgeous men and women for us to droll over. Futile approach? Definitely, but who doesn’t love beautiful things?!

Yet, I don’t watch TV. So, to be quite honest, I don’t really indulge in those fragrance crushes that much, though I love them like I told you before in here. I’d rather immerse myself in the pages of my worst addiction – magazines. And as I was reading MIXT(E), I came across a note on Chlóe‘s new fragrance Love Story, I flirted with at the airport Duty-Free shop yet decided to resist to…

Guess what? Clémence Poésy is the face of the new fragrance. Poésy, one of my biggest girl crushes (I’m not only fond of french men, I am also a big fan of french women)!! How can I resist this?? Not to mention I am already sold to Chlóe anyway… (I wear Love, Chloé Eau Florale). However, I really do need a new bottle anyway, so this might’ve just become a powerful argument… (Damn, I am so easy!)

Besides Clémence, the commercial was directed by the also very lovely Mélanie Laurent, and is super sweet, sexy and fun. Poésy impersonates that dangerous type of woman I just love (and probably of lot of man and women do too): youthful, fun, open, sexy and innocent at the same time, graceful with a hint of mystery, and full of that carefree vibe…

Feel free to check the video bellow and inspired by the music of the also wonderful Vanessa Paradis (I’m still mad at Johnny Depp for leaving her – and I adore Johnny Depp) fall in love, just like I did.

P.S.: Who wouldn’t love to start a love story like this?? Oh, l’amour… 😉

Last Tuesday I decided to get my ass out of bed earlier than usual to go with some friends to Feira da Ladra – the most famous open air market of my beloved Lisbon. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular… I wanted to get lucky enough to score a few major finds, but 1) I didn’t find that many things to strike me regretlessly (I believe Saturdays are better for this); 2) I really have to work on my bargaining skills to get good at this. Yet, I still managed to come home with a few things: a gorgeous (and pretty heavy) table mirror, a whole box of crystals to make a lot of statement necklaces, a lovely tin flower that serves only for decoration and nothing else but is still very cute, and finally a few comic books of my favorite mangas when growing up – Sailor Moon and Rurouni Kenshin (you know, my childhood called, I had to answer!). I’ll show you these in its proper setting in due time. Shortly before leaving I found this vendor with a giant collection of vintage jewelry. I ended up not buying anything because I’d spend enough money already, but I’m still hung up on a couple of silver rings I saw there… Which means I’ll be probably coming back soon (for that and for the VW Love Bug in 4th picture). 🙂 Meanwhile I leave you with some pictures I took with my phone, just because Lisbon is gorgeous and I could play tourist with it in hand all the time.

I’m still quite ambivalent on wether I should’ve bought these sunnies or not…

Where: Campo de Santa Clara, Lisboa
When: Tuesdays and Saturdays (Saturdays is better to arrive early; on Tuesdays 9h30/10h is fine)
Best finds: Vintage / 2nd Hand clothing, decor pieces, jewelry and acessories

Yesterday, as I was cruising SOLESTRUCK – the online almost equivalent of a treasure hunt (most models there are what I call the beasts of the beauties) – I came across something that simultaneously filled me with joy and guilt: the collaboration between the super awesome Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller and SUPERGA, the Italian version of the Vespa in footwear.

Why the guilt? Because where the hell was I when the collection was launched back in July?? Shame on you, girl! Why the joy? Because I’ve been meaning to buy a pair for awhile. However I was way too inclined to the white ones, which is just silly because I already have 3 pairs of white trainers. Turns out the powder pink satin ones Leandra came up with are just the ultimate perfection, balancing graciously femininity and coolness. The bright side of old news like these? They are now on sale! YAY! 😀

The video is also very nice, very ‘Leandra’, with the quirky her outfits (attention – I ADORE her style!) and funny expressions.  🙂 They come in army green, light blue, yellow (looove) and black. Oh and printed. Read more about the collaboration in here and feel free to watch the video bellow. 🙂
